What are NETs?
NETs stands for neuroendocrine tumors. These uncommon tumors develop in the cells of the neuroendocrine system and most commonly begin in the GI tract, lungs, and pancreas. Due to the fact that often these tumors do not show signs or symptoms at first, many people do not discover they have this type of cancer until it has spread to other areas of the body.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide awareness, community, knowledge and assistance in a light hearted and informative manner. Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and all other cancer sucks and is very serious. However, we try to find humor in life, good days and especially the bad.
Cancer Cakes
We try to take a more light hearted approach to life. That’s where Cancer Cakes came from. During a long stay in the hospital, a friend brought me striped snack cakes which I like. It just so happens that the cancer ribbon for NETs awareness is the black and white striped zebra pattern. I ate cakes until I couldn’t stand them any longer. I had been having a rough time so some friends came to visit. We were cutting up and cracking jokes and that day the treats were dubbed cancer cakes. And that is the origin of cancer cakes and the logo for our community.
